World Cup Finals Preview
With only six races remaining in this year’s Alpine Skiing World Cup, on the men’s side all eyes will be focused on the 30 year old American Bode Miller and 33 year old Didier Cuche of Switzerland. The two former Olympic Medallists are battling for multiple titles in this year’s World Cup. Miller sits in first place in the Overall points standings, 185 points ahead of Cuche. Cuche, however, is in first place in the Downhill standings, leading Miller by five points who has said that the Downhill title is his main goal. 30 year old Benjamin Raich of Austria sits in third place in the Overall standings, 290 points behind Miller.

On the women’s side, an American and Austrian are also battling for the Overall title. 23 year old American Lindsey Vonn leads 24 year old Austrian Nicole Hosp by only 54 points with six races remaining. Vonn has clinched the Downhill title, as she sits nearly 300 points ahead of the next closest competitor. 23 year old German Maria Riesch is third in the overall points standings, 122 points behind Vonn.

British snowboarders Dan Wakeman and Zoe Gillings will compete at the final two World Cup venues in Stoneham, Canada, and Valmalenco, Italy. Gillings currently is in 16th place in the Overall women’s standings.
